I am Mineetha. I left my IT career after 15 years and chose to be a homemaker. I am an empty nester now, hence I have more time for myself now than I used to. Thus I started watching YouTube videos and blogs related to food, lifestyle, fitness, travel, fashion, beauty, and so forth. I am sure most women do the same! But at the end of the day, somehow I felt something was missing in those videos. Rather, I felt I could not relate to their content fully, except food-related blogs and vlogs! My guess is that they were mainly focusing on the so-called ‘youngsters’.
Thomas Jefferson’s saying, ‘If you want something you’ve never had, you must be willing to do something you’ve never done’, made me think about creating a blog/vlog of my own for my age-group women, namely, the smart, midlife gals. 😉 That’s how Melodies of Midlife (MoM) came into existence.
In my opinion, the greatest challenge one faces during midlife is the empty nest syndrome, which is nothing but the pain and loneliness we feel when our children leave home for the first time, to live on their own either for pursuing higher studies or for work. Suddenly we realize that our home is not the same anymore. It is an empty nest now! Everyone has to face this phase in their life. And we have to adjust to it and overcome it.
Melodies of Midlife (MoM) is where I would love to share my experiences of this phase in my life. Also maybe we can discuss our hopes, dreams, passions, ideas, fears, interests, hobbies, issues, and so on here.
I was born and brought up in Trivandrum and right now I live in Chennai. I have a Master’s degree in Engineering from NIT Calicut. My hobbies are interior decoration and antiques collection. I love playing the Veena. I am also interested in photography, travelling and reading (especially travelogues). Temple architecture is something which fascinates me!
I am very much excited to start this journey with Melodies of Midlife. I hope you will all join me and we can have fun growing up together.
I am dedicating this blog to all the wonderful Moms out there. Let’s beat the drum!
Lots of Love,
Mineetha, a happy empty nester 😉
